22 attractive family houses and 12 apartments on a high-profile site in Fazakerley, providing a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes. All are allocated for Affordable Rent.
Leighton Dene has seen 34 high-specification Affordable Rent homes built on a previously neglected brownfield site – land that once hosted a run-down nursing home and had lain vacant for a number of years.
Designed by North West architects Bowker Sadler, Leighton Dene’s mix of semi-detached, terraced and apartment homes benefit from off-road parking and luxurious kitchens and bathrooms.
Each house comes with its own private family garden, while trees and shrubs have been planted along the site boundary with Long Lane to enhance the development setting.
Energy efficient boilers, central heating systems, double glazed windows and doors have also been installed to keep fuel bills down, ensuring long-term affordable living.
Completing in September 2017, Leighton Dene’s brand-new homes were let through LMH’s choice-based lettings scheme.
Due to high levels of demand, all properties were let quickly and initial feedback from new tenants has been extremely positive.
Leighton Dene Day Care Centre closed in October 2008. With the site struggling to attract a new buyer, it began to attract vandalism and blight the local neighbourhood.
That’s when Liverpool City Council stepped in, demolishing the run-down facility in 2011 to make way for new development.
The brand-new Leighton Dene homes have brought a new life to the area, transforming an unloved site into much-needed new affordable housing.
